Our organised visits and tours have always proven to be very popular. They are open to both members and non-members alike, however the members' discount is a key benefit of being a member of ARG. Each year about 10 such tours are arranged, often visiting places not normally open to the public. The programme of visits aims to cover as many parts of the country as possible and are to both active and disused airfields, heritage centres, museums and other aviation related venues.

In the recent past the list has included

Live Military airfields – RAF Valley, RAF Halton, RAF Linton-on-Ouse, RNAS Yeovilton

Live Civil airfields – Cotswold Airport, North Weald.

Disused airfields – Binbrook, Bicester, Westcott, Wethersfield

Heritage Centres / Museums – RAF Scampton, RAF Wyton, Rolls Royce, Derby.

Factory – Airbus, Chester

2017 Visits

The list of forthcoming visits will change as more visits are arranged and confirmed so please check back regularly. Once you have selected your visit, please review the booking information below.

Bicester Heritage Thurs. 6 April

We have a morning half day guided tour of this well preserved bomber station, where exciting plans for a centre for aviation and historic motoring are progressing well. The site owners are providing transport to explore the remote areas of the airfield including the bomb stores, before returning to the main technical site. They make a charge for this tour which is included in our price.

Cost £20 members and £25 non-members

RAF Digby (& Cranwell Aviation Heritage Centre) Sat. 29 April

Most of the day will be spent at the RAF’s oldest operational station with a break for lunch. We will firstly tour the Technical Site, and after the break have a talk on the Sector Ops. Museum, with free time to look round the exhibits independently. Those that wish to can then move on to the Cranwell Centre, about 5 miles away, for an independent visit in the later afternoon.

Cost £9 members and £15 non-members

RAF Lakenheath Fri. 19 May

Our last visit to Lakenheath was a complete sell-out and we expect this one to be as popular. The half day visits will commence mid-late morning through to mid-afternoon. We have requested to once again visit ATC and squadron offices as well as getting up close to an F-15 but all is subject to operational needs. Last time we got a drive round the main site and there were no photography restrictions. The visit price includes the required coach hire as we have to meet off-base and arrive together. Full details will be provided near the time of the event.

Cost £15 members and £21 non-members
