Afternoon all

Does anyone have any pics of the above? Looking for period circa 1940-45 as the sick qtrs sites I have visited have had no trace of these buildings left

Any pics of the ambulances as well would be a bonus! ;)

Gruesome! The Mortician's slab!

I photographed a building a Westonzoyland in (circa) 1966 with a slab like that but can't remember where it was exactly. One of our team volunteered to lie on the slab feigning death with face suitably greyed with wood ash. Our team Sergeant was ex SAS WW2 re-enlisted in the RAF post-war and knew his way around airfields of this vintage otherwise we young men would have though it was a workshop of sorts! Your image shows a TB building but an RSP states a Nissen located on the Sick Quarter's site here:

Was there more than one Mortuary?

Its on one of the very large dispersed sites to the east and not on the site plan, which shows the sick quarters over on the west. I presume it was rebuilt there post the plan being drawn and when the Jets arrived and the need for a lot more service personnel.

I'll photograph the one at Tholthorpe the next time I'm down there.

Late last night upon the stair, I met a man who wasn't there
He wasn't there again today Oh how I wish he'd go away
