We went to the Duxford airshow on Saturday. Took all of these marvellous photographs with my Brand-new camera.:woohoo: I'm sure that Saturday was the best day of the two ? Not the best of shows that we have been to at Duxford. Only one Spitfire, no Lancaster or Hurricane. One Mustang and Thunderbolt B-17 sally B. Though we are going to the Flying Legends in July.

Flying Festival at Old Warden

During the course of its display i noticed debris fall from the Westland Wasp, which then cut its display short and landed. A Shuttleworth collection engineer in attendance at Wasp after it had landed said the pilot believed he'd had Bird strike as the Canopy glazing above his head was missing. The sight of so many Dakota's at Old Warden was a spectacle never to be seen again.

Thanks Martyn. Great photos. It was great to have so many Daks/Skytrains parked up on such a small airfield.

Regarding the Wasp. My mate said he saw something fall off it & that will explain why it's routine was a bit short & never flew down to our side of the airfield during it's display then.

MIDLANDS AIR FESTIVAL - Arbury Hall (18-5-19)

A bit late getting my photos sorted out this season so far. Here's some from the excellent Midlands Air Festival held in the lovely grounds of Arbury Hall in Warwickshire in May.
A very nice flying programme of aircraft were on show but it's the amazing balloons that steal the show especially the mass launch at the end of the main aircraft display in the early evening(I was too lazy to get up for the 6.00am launches!). Over 100 balloons took part. Here's a few pics -

I think this looks like a balloon selfie lol-

I'll post some of the aircraft shots soon

A tough choice for this particular Sunday , either go to the Air Yorkshire meeting at LBA and see Aldon Ferguson give a talk on Church Fenton or travel 3 hours down the A1 for The Shuttleworth Collections annual Military Airshow and the promise of seven Hurricanes in the same piece of sky for the first time since 1946 ? I'm quite surprised that this airshow has received very little publicity on any of the main UK aviation forums or at least the ones I visit as it was a cracking show , a superb flying programme and brilliant weather and all in a typically British Old Warden atmosphere . Sorry Aldon.......

Hurricanes only for starters ;

I didn't realise there were seven flying Hurricanes in the UK (or Europe)! That will be a sight. Both my experiences of Old Warden were in torrential rain, one had the airshow cancelled, although they did put on some flying where possible.
