The airfield was built in 1941 under a lend lease agreement, Newfoundland was at that time not a part of Canada. The NAS was used to support the US Naval base established at the same time. The US only pulled out in 1994. The airfield is no longer used for general aviation and is not listed n the COPA list. I did see a wiki reference to cadet gliding.

I may be back at the airfield today so will see what else I can find out.

its on my list! Even getting to the Rock from where I am is a trek. But looking at the maps I reckon I can drive from Montreal to Goose via Labrador City.
