Albert Kimmerling (1882 -1912) was an early French aviator with the distinction of making the first powered flight in Africa on 28 December 1909 while working for Voison Brothers, a french aviation company. This took place at Nahoon Racecourse in East London, South Africa
At the end of July 1911 he made a forced landing on a road in Sainte-Cécile-les-Vignes. Provence, which is now named after him.
