Some Dambuster items seem to have been sold recently

Saw this episode and the Dambuster piece was right at the end. The whole collection of assorted military memorabilia was valued at £8,000. I thought that was a bit low as the money that changes hands for Dambuster relics is quite large on its own.

At least the expert seemed to be encouraging him to let a museum have the collection. Would have been nice to hear that it is going to a museum. Pity the one that looked at the collection of paintings of cars did not do the same.

A postwar letter querying if Major Boddington was still in "service" in respect of a possible leak of Upkeep information to the US in 1942.

Interesting letter. Firstly that we did not share information with our allies, especially the Americans. Secondly that this was followed up to n 1951.

I don't have much knowledge of what was shared with the Americans in 1942 but it would be an interesting subject. Did they spy onus and us on them?

We most certainly do, and Ive even seen American exchange officers sent from the room when a subject is UK eyes only.

I suppose the trust you have in your allies depends on who is running the country and who is running the agencies you deal with. I wonder what it is like now :)

And The way to the stars was on yesterday. I know some of it was filmed at Catterick, but it wasnt Catterick tower towards the end.

The web is convinced it's Catterick, but:
Film is here:

0.45.29 Exterior scene of Catterick
0.59.36 Balcony of Tower - not Catterick
1.29.13 B-17s on runway with HILV lighting, hence not Catterick
1.33.45 Interior of tower with mimic panel - Class A airfield, not Catterick
1.34.05 Balcony of the tower
Over to the sleuths!
Plan A is always more effective when the problem you are working on understands that Plan B will involve the use of dynamite
