Memorial tablet in entrance porch recalls a number of local individuals some of whom lost their lives during WWII. Amongst them is Sgt J.P. Williams who died on 27/08/43

He was P of 1663 HCU Halifax DG412 “B”, that had departed Rufforth on a Bulleye Op

The aircraft lost control whilst conducting evasive manoeuvres and in the dive that followed, the aircraft suffered in-flight structural failure. The seven-man crew were trapped by centrifugal forces and all died when the aircraft crashed at Buda Farm, Langtree, Devon
