Memorial Plaque (& clock) inside the village church remembers F/O H.W. Parry who was KIA on 04/07/43

He was the N on 97 Sqn Lancaster ED917 OF-U, that departed Bourn at 2235 for Ops Cologne

There are two possible claims for this aircraft

Either;

This aircraft was the one possibly intercepted in the Cologne area by a Night-Fighter captained by Ofw Otto Hofer (NJVK) and shot down for his 1st Abschusse at 0137

Or

The aircraft possibly intercepted 5000M above Cologne by a Night-Fighter captained by Hptm Ewald Janssen (NJVK) for his 1st Abschusse

All seven crew were killed, six of which have no known grave and are therefore commemorated on the Runnymede Memorial, Surrey
