Im originally from Lancaster, lived in Germany for the last 9 years.
My grandfather was in the RAF as a wireless observer (Warrant Officer in the end) between 1919 and 1945.
I have a bunch of photographs of the various stations he was at (he had an interesting career in the RAF) and he also wrote his memoirs that contain some interesting bits of information.
I would be happy to try to help anyone out who is researching any of the stations he was at.

Too many for me to remember off hand. Ive had to refer to the his memoirs, and I am sure i have not listed all places, as there are so many.
Basra (actually he was a W/T on a boat, the Gadfly, and not at the airfield, but based at Shat-el-Arab, which is an interesting story in itself).
Mersa Matruh (Egypt)
Maaten Baguish (Egypt)
Hal Far and Kalafhana (Malta)
My wife is having the same problem with her father's Naval service (1938-1952) which seems to cover most oceans and most seas, including the Black Sea! This list of ports is amazing. We even have some souvenirs, a bit of the Tirpitz and a bit of the first enemy aircraft shot down over the British Isles. No sure how genuine they though!
