FINALLY!!! A memorial related to Desford Aerodrome had been put up at the Caterpiller digger company site who are based on the original aerodrome site.

It was based on an original idea by 'Desford In Bloom' & built by the Caterpiller Company themselves to celebrate the RAF's centenary & shows a model of the Reid & Sigrist Desford Trainer 'The Bobsleigh' which incidently I hear a rumour has flown again very recently following it's recent restoration at Spanhoe. -

Nothing on the plaque as of yet

& finally a photograph I took of the aircraft itself last February. Here's hoping with news of it's recent first flight since restoration that a flypast over the old airfield site is in the planning -

Nice to see Steve, is anything going on the blank plaque?

I saw the Desford fly several times when it was owned by the Strathallan Collection. Always thought it was a lovely, spritely performer. It's good to see it and the airfield being commemorated and I do hope it manages a flypast in the near future.
