I stopped to ask two women if they knew where this memorial is situated, the elder of them said that she remembered the crash as she was in the bath at the time, one hell of a ground shuddering noise, scared me to bits as I was only very young.

The original temporary plaque was first unveiled 7th March 2015.

There was a small dedication ceremony at Newark Air Museum back in March 2012 (55th anniversary) with the planting of a Silver Birch with plaque and also a bench suitably inscribed. Also in attendance was the Instructor for all the handlers, lost in this tragic accident, who was based at Netheravon….
Under my gruff exterior lies an even gruffer interior...

A short report on the BBC about the 60th anniversary service

Sutton Wick air crash, 60 years on
A Blackburn Beverley aircraft crashed in Sutton Wick, now in Oxfordshire, on 5 March 1957.

The crash killed 15 members of the RAF, two civilians and a number of police dogs.

Another man, badly burned in the accident, later killed himself.
