I really like the area I grew up in Colsterworth and remember two Canberra crashes, one in 71 onto a farm I worked part time on at Lobthorpe , my mate lived on the farm and was called as a witness if I recall. All three crew got out, I also remember the Canberra from your Squadron coming down near the Fox, sadly the pilot was killed.

Cottesmore Tower today, May the 16th.
The airfield is looking shabby, with roads painted onto many of the taxiways, particularly on the hanger side though the approach lighting is still in place.
The barracks itself looks busy, lots of vehicles and squaddies about. Currently 2nd Battalion the Princess of Wales Royal Regiment are in residence with 7 Regiment, Royal Logistics Corps.

A view towards the control tower from the very overgrown gold course.
Never having been on the airfield before I was surprised how inclined some of the original runways and taxiways were, particularly heading east from the Northern threshold of the North-South runway.

That was a great course, we even played it in flip flops and shorts one evening. It got so late we had to move the car to put the headlights on full beam to putt out !
