Starfish and airfield decoy sites are completely different in their layout, one represents major towns and cities, docks etc while the other represents an airfield, though the idea is the same - to draw enemy bombers away from the true target.

You can tell a builder from an archaeologist by the size of his trowel. Mine is a small one!

I seem to recall that a number ofdecoy sites became airfields. Panshanger springs to mind.

PNk, I have a copy of an old MoD document listing K and Q sites which shows Lakenheath as both K and Q and the dummy a/c present as Wellington and the site is listed as a decoy for Feltwell. I have just one page that lists decoy sites, serial number 1 thru 52

I think there were more that were converted. I just can't recall any more. Lakenheath I didn't know about though.

Donna Nook, the bombing range was a K and Q and had Blenheims as decoys. It was a RLG previously

DG1, re your image Number 4, you said:

search or chance light tower, A ladder must have been used to get up there. 9' 9'' to the top of the concrete plinth.

This position mounted a headlamp powered by a DC supply through the cable in your image Number 5. It was part of the night decoy or Q site.

When alerted to enemy raiders approaching, one of the operators climbed up to the platform switched on the light and began a series of panning it slowly through 90 degrees or so so simulate the landing light of a taxiing aircraft. He would then switch off and swing to a different arc before repeating the procedure. At some point the operators would be instructed by land line to douse all lights on the dummy airfield and to take cover.

This is very odd! I answered the BROADLEY query yesterday and viewed it in this thread yet today it is gone!

The FlashEarth link that Denis gave above is for a decoy site known as Nazeing according to Martin Dobinson's book 'Fields of Deception' and was located on Nazeing Common. The link shows the shelter and, as far as I can research, the dummy airfield site was just south in the large field.

The above reference indicates the NGR as TL421055 which puts in just north of Copy Wood. The site was manned by North Weald.

The village of Broadley Common is just NE of Nazeing village so is it the Broadley to which Martin is asking the question? I think so.
