The KQ site at Nazeing Common is known to many by both titles. Some people call it Broadley Common, some call it Nazeing Common. They are literally next to one another, and there the confusion reigns I would wager!
I live not more than half a mile from the Nazeing KQ site, and I have never heard of any other decoy site in this locality.

Hi All

I'm not sure if this post is in the right place if it's not please feel free to move it Mr Moderator.

Well as the title surgests I'm interested in the location of decoy site for former WW2 air fields, I'v just found the control room
for the decoy site of RAF Brize Norton (Just past Tad pole bridge), there are no details on the defence of Brittan web data base.
I have a copy of Military airfields by Willes & Holliss and I'd like to tie up with the book which airfields had a decoy site.

Is there a decent list of locations and what would of been the criteria for adding a decoy site.

Any help on this would be great
thanks Mike Tucknott

I can rember being told by my Mother who came from "Newhaven" that the Decoy was "Cuckmere haven" Seaford.

And that ther was also something on what was locally known as the "Wreck" at the Bottom of "Evelyn Ave" But I have no idea what :(

Sorry I can't be more specific it's a long time since I was down there

Again, not actually an airfield, but certainly vital for the defence of the realm, the RN cordite factory at holton heath had two decoys built for it, one about a mile to the north, which has become known as decoy heath, which had some earthworks created around it which mimicked those of the real factory along with a series of sacrificial wooden buildings which would be set on fire by the home guard to simulate a hit. the site also had a second decoy created near the village of arne. there was also a gun emplacement nearby which I have failed to locate so far. the village was evacuated.

EDIT... I think i've found the gun emplacements...
